5 hacks to fill your home with plants

Having your home filled with plants is the new trendy aesthetic to strive for. However, it is easier said than done keeping a house full of plants alive, especially as a working professional.

We have compiled a list of 5 hacks to easily and beautifully fill your home or room with plants.

1. Try a cacti

As a new plant owner, these little suckers are the best first port of call. They are used to living in harsh conditions such as high temperatures with little hydration, therefore they will be the perfect low maintenance plant to start your growing indoor garden. Try starting with an Echeveria or Agave, as they will fill your home with cool green tones, whilst needing almost zero maintenance. 

2. Grow your own indoor kitchen garden

An easy way to bring some greenery into your kitchen is to set up an area of a few pots filled with either mint, chillies, or basil. They are pretty easy to keep going as they only need to be watered every few days, with a nice light spot in your kitchen window. A bonus is that you can also them to flavour your cooking, using homegrown herbs instead of store bought.

3. Purify and brighten up your bedroom

Who doesn’t want their bedroom to be a sanctuary of peace and relaxation? If yours is not, we have the perfect solution for you. Plants actually act as air purifiers and can improve the quality of your bedrooms air. Orchids, aloe vera or a peace lily will help you sleep better at night and relieve some of your days anxieties. Buy a few plants, hang them around your bedroom and enjoy their natural healing qualities.

4. Sproose up your home office

As more and more people are working from home, it is important to create a stress-free working environment for optimal productivity. The colour green actually encourages stability and stress relief, therefore, filling your workspace, and home in general, with some low maintenance succulents, money or finger tree can liven up your space as well as help with your concentration and calmness throughout the workday.

5. Your plants like coffee too

A fun hack to keep your plants moving and grooving is to keep your coffee grounds and after they have cooled add them to your plants soil. The acid in coffee can quite literally wake your plants and give them a morning boost! This is an easy way to keep the plants around your home happy whilst also reusing your old coffee grounds.
